Jatiluwih is an iconic destination and one that is extremely instagrammable. This stunning spot in Tabanan is renowned the world over for its mesmerizing terraced rice fields that are sparkling emerald green as far as the eye can see.
A UNESCO World Heritage site, this breathtaking site is a top tourist’s destination that you don’t want to miss. Aside to its beauty, Jatiluwih is also famous due to its organic and traditional irrigation system managed by a community of farmers and the local Banjar called the «Subak» system. The terraces were made by hand to maximize land and involve a complex system of canals, tunnels, pipes, dams and dikes to flood or drain the rice fields at the right time.
Located at an altitude of 700 meters above sea level, the rice fields are adjacent to the famous Mount Batur. The best time to leave for this day trip is early in the morning when the air is still fresh and cool.
